Pattern
To start: Make a magic ring (MR).
Round 1
Working into the MR: CH 2, 2DCCL (the CH 2 and 2DCCL together count as the first 3DCCL), CH 2, [3DCCL, CH 2] 6 times. Pull the MR tight and join with a SLST to the top of the first 3DCCL.
(7 x 3DCCL, 7 x CH-2 SP)
CH 3.

Round 2
SLST into the next CH-2 SP, CH 1 (does not count as a stitch), {SC, HDC, DC, Picot, DC, HDC, SC} in the same CH-2 SP, [{SC, HDC, DC, Picot, DC, HDC, SC} in the next CH-2 SP] 6 times. Join to the first SC with an invisible join (see next page) or a SLST.
(7 Picot Shells)
| 1. First picot shell | 2. Finished star |
Finishing
Fasten off and weave in the ends. Block the star if desired – pin it flat, pulling each point out gently, mist with water or spray starch and let it dry completely.
How to Do the Invisible Join
| 1. Finish the last ST of the round and take your hook out of the last ST. | 2. TURN your work and put your hook into the first ST of the round. |
| 3. Put your hook through the loop of the last ST. | 4. Pull through. |
| 5. Yarn over. | 6. Pull through. |
| 7. Cut your yarn and pull all the remaining yarn through. | 8. Tighten and TURN your work back. |
